Well, I’ve been unable to get the compilation to work since Java 9 due to the old ForgeGradle 1.2, which doesn’t work on Gradle versions newer than v3.x, but is needed for compiling the Minecraft 1.7 and Minecraft 1.8 wrappers.

Why not keep using Java 8?
