Arc frames are usually taken in the middle of a sequence of NIFS science exposures. As they are taken during the night, it seems to make sense to keep the number of arc exposures to an absolute minimum.

Nifty currently median combines several flats to create the processed flat. So far, it has support for doing the same for arc frames, but after closer thought this seems to make less sense. What does it mean to median combine three arc frames? Is this useful at all, or should we simply disable support for median combining the arcs, and instead just take the latest arc in a sequence of them?

It's so uncommon for multiple arcs to be taken that I haven't seen it come up yet. Behaviour of the pipeline is basically untested for this situation.
