<h3>¿Qué sucede en la UE?</h3>
<p>
En septiembre de 2013, la Comisión Europea propuso un reglamento para un
mercado único de Telecomunicaciones (TSM), una legislación que
consagrase la neutralidad de la red a la legislación europea. Sin
embargo, el texto de la Comisión contenía varias lagunas problemáticas
que habrían permitido a los proveedores de Internet eludir la
neutralidad de la red. A través de una disposición sobre "servicios
especializados", las compañías de telecomunicaciones (ISP) podrían crear
un acceso prioritario discriminatorio. La propuesta también habría
permitido el bloqueo discriminatorio de sitios web, aplicaciones y
contenido - una amenaza al estado de derecho y la libertad de expresión.

<p>
Afortunadamente, el Parlamento Europeo trabajó duro para cerrar estas
lagunas y votó a favor de reglas claras a favor de la neutralidad de la
red el 3 de abril de 2014. A pesar de que las cosas se veían sombrías en
un primer momento, tus esfuerzos junto a /Save The Internet/, ayudaron a
que el Parlamento aprobase un texto con fuertes medidas para
salvaguardar la neutralidad de la red.

<p>
Posteriormente, los Estados miembros de la UE reunidos en el Consejo
progresaron lentamente, tardando hasta marzo de 2015 en llegar a una
posición conjunta. El nuevo texto acordado introdujo lagunas de nuevo,
que socavarán considerablemente el futuro de internet. En caso de
aprobarse, crearía carriles rápidos pagados, permitiría la
discriminación de precios en la UE, y autorizaría el bloqueo de
contenidos legales.

<p id="trialogues">
En las negociaciones a tres bandas próximas, es importante que el
Parlamento Europeo se mantenga firme en su compromiso de abril del 2014
para garantizar una fuerte neutralidad de la red para todos los europeos.
