The window and all texts get blurry from time to time. I dont use windows scaling, so it shouldn't be a windows bug.
Any Idea?

EDIT: Summary, since this has been coming up more frequently again

Vortex by default renders the UI with Hardware Acceleration through your GPU and is therefore affected by some global graphics settings made through your driver.
You can disable GPU acceleration in Settings->Interface but that will significantly affect the responsiveness of the Vortex UI, if you go this route, please don't report performance issues to us.
The better alternative is to set your global driver settings to default and only adjust them on a game-by-game basis.

Original post:

I can't reproduce this atm. What's the resolution of your screen?
Do you have any idea if you're doing something before it gets blurry? Like scrolling, clicking buttons, any action prior to things going blurry?

Please try this:
In Settings->Interface disable GPU acceleration and restart Vortex.

Close vortex, then open a command prompt (open start menu and start typing it, it should show up as a search result).

Type
cd "c:\Program Files\Black Tree Gaming Ltd\Vortex"
(change the path if you installed to a custom locatiaon)

and then
Vortex --disable-gpu

This will start Vortex without gpu acceleration for the ui. Does that fix the blurring?

First of all, thanks for working on Vortex. It has been a long time since NMM was replaced by something better!

But, I also have in some critics!

a) Blurred... Please add an option that disables this! Sometimes nothing is readable, because random parts of the window are blurred. This is extremely annoying and makes working with Vortex massively more difficult!
b) Title fonts in dialogues (???) are hardly readable. Please, change them! This is a really bad font!
c) Downloads and installation... Please add an option to ALWAYS replace the installation.
I have to say that I use a lot of mods (200+) and have changed Skyrim according to my wishes. But when you import them from NMM, it's a hell of a job! Unfortunately Vortex crashed a few times and I had to start all over again. It's hard to bear how bad the import is or that you have to constantly confirm that the imported mod has to be replaced.
Nevertheless I had installed some mods twice and three times at the end and had to delete and reinstall them completely.

Some information because of the blurred problem!
I can reproduce this problem EVERY time! And only with Vortex! This IS a Vortex problem.

System:
Win10 x64 pro 1903 Build 18362.86
16GB RAM
NVidia GTX 770 4GB with latest nvidia driver.
I've 3 screens and all are scaled by windows! No other app has any problem with this!

erindal commented May 6, 2019

@ASRSI

Try manually adding the vortex.exe to programs managed by the NVIDIA control panel, and turn off Anti aliasing. That should fix the problem for this and any other apps.

ASRSI commented May 6, 2019

@erindalc
Thank you, that seems to work! Now it's much better!
Is this a Vortex problem, or a problem with the NVidia driver? Just out of curiosity.

@erindal
Copy link

erindal commented May 6, 2019

@ASRSI I'm honestly not sure. I'm pretty sure it's a related to the NVIDIA drivers, because the problem appeared on several applications I use around the time I did a driver update.

@TanninOne
Copy link
Contributor

Debatable. We, as the Vortex devs can't do anything about it. We could disable gpu rendering for everyone but 99.99% of our users have no problem with it.

What happens is that since Vortex (or electron rather) uses GPU acceleration for it's UI rendering (which is absolutely not unusual, Qt as used in MO does it too) the driver applies your fullscreen anti-alising settings to it.
Afaik this is only a problem if you've changed the global setting away from "Application-controlled".
If that is a case: PEBCAK. If the nvidia driver actually defaults to antialising Vortex that's a driver problem, we certainly don't ask for our UI to be FSAAed

@ASRSI

ASRSI commented May 7, 2019

Thanks for the info! I just wondered that it only occurs with Vortex (on me). But after it went better, after I switched off AA in the NVidia driver, my consideration was whether it has to do with my graphics settings for my system in general. Maybe you should keep an eye on it if people have problems with what kind of system and what settings they use.
I have three monitors and each one has a different resolution. I have scaling on in Windows 10 because I need it. But since these are different on the monitors, I wasn't sure what would cause the problem. I also have an installed Windows 7. I'll take a look there (install Vortex) and see if the problem also occurs.

@erindal

erindal commented May 7, 2019

Actually he's right, I have no idea how I managed to turn on global AA in my NVIDIA settings, that's not on by default.

Since the previous update, the program UI displays horribly blurry text. Even typing this feedback proved to be a chore. Moving the mouse cursor past a given element will clear up the blurriness, for it to return once the cursor in moved away from the element. My PC is fully updated with the latest Nvidia drivers installed, and this is the only program this happens with, with every available theme. My GPU max resolution is 2560x1080. I've attached a screenshot of my desktop to better illustrate the issue. Log file included as well.

Vortex text is fine when started but slowly starts to become blurred over a few minutes.
The only way to see what the text is is to hover the mouse over the area and it clears temporarily.
Areas that are not hovered over remain blurred. Areas that cleared after hovering the mouse then become blurred too.
This has been happening over at least 4 iterations of Vortex.

I also have this issue and is 100 percent due to the settings in your nvidia control panel. I set my control panel to choose my graphic setting and it instantly fixed the Nexus buggy looking issue. Specifically if you want to keep your settings I modified my nvidia transparency to 4x samples and it corrected the issue. I hope this helps. This is not a big deal but a glitch in the driver compatibility perhaps. No need to roll back or change your drivers just a simple settings change.
