Vector Visualization of Geomechanical Tensor Cell Results

Cell averaged tensor results like SE, ST, and E can be shown as arrows with heads in both ends on the surface of visible cells. This can be enabled by selecting the result of interest in the Tensor Results item in the Project tree. The arrow heads will point inwards or outwards indication pressure or tension respectively.

  • Tensor -- (SelectionList) Select the tensor to display as vectors
  • Visibility -- (Group) Toggle the visibility of the principal directions
    • Principal 1 (Toggle)
    • Principal 2 (Toggle)
    • Principal 3 (Toggle)
    • Threshold -- Hide vectors representing absolute values less than this value.
  • Vector Colors -- (Group) Control the color to be used for the vectors
    • (drop down)
      • White, Gray, Black
      • Magenta, Brown, Black
      • Result Colors -- Use the size of the principal as color
  • Vector Size -- (Group) Controls the scaling of the vectors
    • Scale method -- (drop Down) Sets the method to be used
      • Result -- Size is proportional to the size of the principal
      • Constant -- Use a constant size
    • Size Scale -- Constant vectors size is set to the typical cell size scaled by this value. Result sized vectors use that size as a range midpoint.

To be discussed:

  • Should a category legend be used for the two color types with one color per principal?
  • If not î, should legend definition be removed?
