Problem:
Not much documentation can fit on screen at one time due to auto-scaling settings for the docs site. Using the deployment configuration page as an example:

Site snapped to half my monitor width:

Site full screen on my display:

You can see that actually less documentation is visible on my display at full screen compared to half-screen, both per-line and total number of lines, because the text size has increased so much that it scrolls off the right-hand side of the middle column, and each line takes up a higher percentage of my display.

Proposed fix: Cap maximum text size to prevent this (I am certainly no web developer/designer and am not really sure how to fix this). The Splunk docs site could be one example to model for this, as it also uses a three-column layout.

Tested in:

  • Microsoft Edge (Chromium) 114.0.1823.37
  • Mozilla Firefox 113.0.2

Windows 10
27" 4K monitor (Dell UE2723qe - 16:9ratio) @ 150% (Recommended) Scaling
