After setup my blog (BlogEngine.net 3.3.8.0 on IIS 8.0) to use https I cannot publish anymore a post. Neither I cannot re-add my blog after remove it.

When I try to do, I receive this error

Open Live Writer

Can't connect to your blog service:
Network Connection Error - Error attempting to connect to blog at:
http://www.myDomain.com/Blog/metaweblog.axd
MovedPermanently: Moved Permanently
Please try fixing the problem and then try again.

Note that when I add the blog I use the httpS url, but it check the axd handler without it.
The redirect rule from http to https i done with the Urlrewrite module of https

Any help ? (something to setup different on IIS ? or it is a BlogEngine issue ?)
Thanks in advance

Hi @SandroRiz, this certainly does seem to be an issue with how we handle Metaweblog-compatible blogs. I've tagged the issue appropriately.

For anyone wanting to help out on this issue, the intended behaviour should be that Live Writer handles the redirect; it'll try adding the Metaweblog blog as indicated by the redirect URL. It should be able to handle multiple layers of redirects up until a defined limit. This could be implemented by catching the MovedPermanently response, and looping.

For anyone looking for a solution, a fix in Registry Editor helped me with the same issue. Open Registry Editor at "\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\OpenLiveWriter\Weblogs", find a GUID-based key that points to your blog and replace "http" to "https" in the "HomepageUrl" and "PostApiUrl" values.

That works if you have previously added... what if it is a new installation and there are any entry in the regedit folder? (only (Default) and DefaultWeblog)

I guess that it is possible to add some test blog address (e.g. on a different http website) and then edit the key to redirect it to your https blog.
