Rolling retention to another school #560
Comments
Another work-around is to keep "Next grade at current school" Then transfer each individual students to their new school. Obviously not at all desired. |
None of the work around is really good options. We need the original feature from previous SIS. The use case is common and ubiquitous. For example, all grade 8 students in Elementary School X moving to High School Y. In previous version we could go in "rolling/retention option" and select transfer to other school after which we would get a drop down list of schools in the system to transfer to. Now, we can't do it for individual students and can't group assign it either. |
The currently proposed method is to:

@openSISAdmin The current proposed method does not seem valid. The problem with this is explained in #606 |
The work left here is to have the old Rolling/Retention option of "Next grade at another school" feature back. Then selecting this "Next grade at another school" a new dropdown appears with a list of all schools in the system. |
A common scenario is a school only offering primary. Can we have a rolling retention "Next grade at another school" and then a choice of all schools in the system would be enabled as dropdown in a following field?
The only other way we can think of with the current features is to select "Do not enrol after this school year" which deactivates the students and then they sort of disappeared from view. Users tend to just reload them in the new school creating duplicates. It is possible to re-enroll all those into the new grade but this process seems unnatural.
