Debugging NC_ERANGE issues #40

I am getting an NC_ERANGE error from pnetcdf, if I switch my method to netcdf I do not get the same error and I am trying to understand the value it's trying to convert and whether it's a reasonable error or not. This is an R8->R4 conversion. Is there a way to get pnetcdf to write out the value it's trying to convert?

I think I've found the problem using PNETCDF_VERBOSE_DEBUG_MODE. It's not a pnetcdf issue.
