Need to remove spaces in search input

Searching for "BRCA1" v. " BRCA1" results in different results.

(note that I did not actually include "" in the search, I am just included
them here to point out the extra space before BRCA1 in the second case).

That should not be.

Searched BRCA1 with preceding and trailing white spaces...got the expected 
results.
