For example, https://www.betydb.org/species.xml?scientificname=Panicum+virgatum results in an Internal Server Error (500).

I suspect this is a Rails upgrade-related issue.

Other XML endpoints don't result in a server error but return bizarre results:

https://www.betydb.org/yields.xml

(The content of each yield element is a single character, often a kanji character or a symbol of some sort.)
