Description

Mars analog simulation missions offer an opportunity to test technologies, workflows and processes, in preparation for future human missions to Mars. This talk will provide an overview of recent mission campaigns conducted by the Austrian Space Forum and will elucidate the technical and scientific challenges that are being tackled through analog missions, to pave the way for humans to set foot on the Red Planet.

Kartik is an Aerospace Engineer, Planetary Scientist, startup founder, and Analog Astronaut. He is currently finalizing his PhD at Delft University of Technology, investigating the dynamics of Uranus' outer ring system. Kartik is also co-founder of satsearch, an ESA startup building the first global B2B marketplace for the space industry. As an Analog Astronaut for the Austrian Space Forum, Kartik has been involved in two Mars analog simulation missions: AMADEE-15 on Kaurental glacier in Austria and AMADEE-18 in the Dhofar desert in Oman.
