After downloading and switching to Proton 7.0-1 I either have no mouse cursor (for example in Among us) or the mouse cursor doesn't respond to any clicks (i.e. Path of Exile).
I'm running Gamescope version 3.11.21.r1.gc82cefb-1.
Using Proton Experimental works just fine.
Running any of those games without Gamescope also works just fine.

What DE are you using? also X or Wayland?

I'm using KDE 5.24.1 on Wayland.
And I'm using Arch, if it matters.

Just about the same has happened for me as well. Proton 7.0-1 doesn't allow for mouse usage, nor controller input to go to the application while using gamescope. I am also using KDE 5.24.1, and Wayland. I am also using gamescope version 3.10.7.

I'm trying to use gamescope with FFXIV as detailed here (gamescope -f -w 2560 -h 1440 -b -- gamemoderun %command%) but when the launcher comes up, I can't interact with it as there is no cursor. This occurs with either Proton Experimental or 7.0-1, but not with earlier versions of Proton such as 6.3-8.

@yaomtc DE and X or Wayland?

Also I'm having the problem as well Gnome 41.4, Wayland and gamescope 3.11.21

I was using gamescope 3.11.22. Now I'm using the latest from git. It happens in both Wayland and X11, and in both GNOME and Plasma. It seems to be an issue with gamescope and proton 7.x independent of the windowing system used.

Also, I notice that there is a "cursor" (it's an X) visible only at the top left and right corners if I move the mouse that way.

I'm having the same issue, on Gamescope 3.11.22 with Proton Experimental too. I'm on sway.

I'm having the same issue on Steam Proton 7.0-1, AMDGPU driver, using gamescope 3.11.22-1.
DE: Gnome on Xorg.

Having the same issue on Arch with KDE Plasma Wayland from the latest Git build of Gamescope. This occurs with Proton 7.0-1, Proton Experimental and Proton Experimental Bleeding Edge. As noted by other users, controller input also does not work.

EDIT: It does not seem to affect games launched outside of Steam, for instance gamescope -f -- supertuxkart works fine.

I am having the same issue on Manjaro (Arch) KDE Plasma, kernel 5.17 rc5, tried both xorg and wayland DE compositors, using gamescope 3.11, proton experimental, no mouse is detected tried in windowed or fullscreen, etc.. Have tried every configuration I can think of, mouse works fine when i don't use gamescope through steam launch options.

Had the same problem, adding -e to gamescope (now it is gamescope -e ___) in the steam launch options fixed the problem

@stele95's solution worked for me! It fixes the mouse and controller input not working.

Having the same issue on Manjaro KDE using Wayland proton experimental
Driver: AMDGPU

This works for those still having the issue. However thumb buttons still don't work.

I had to use the -e option for Warframe on Fedora -- using kde + sddm + wayland

I can confirm everything as well.

The mouse doesn't work since Proton 7, but the "-e" fixes it.

Proton Experimental
AMDGPU with RADV driver
KDE 5.24.3 on Wayland
Kernel 5.16.14-zen
Risk of Rain 2 no mouse input

Tried with -e and it worked

Must be another Nvidia issue or something, tried -e option and still no cursor in FFXIV..

Specifically mouse "works," just the cursor doesn't show up. Stuff still gets highlighted and can be clicked on if I move the mouse around blindly.

Also the issue is only with FFXIV's builtin cursor. If I open any overlay the cursor shows up again (while interacting with the overlay). Close the overlay and the cursor disappears.

Using the parameter -e appears to solve the issue at first, but it causes a weird constant stutter that appears after 30 minutes of smooth gameplay. The only way to resolve the stutter is to restart the game, not any real solution to this problem for now.

SwayVM (Wayland)
Arch Linux (Kernel 5.18.12)

I think you've run into the same issue described here: #163
(and also #315, #319, #452, #504)

Currently unable to run FFXIV in Gamescope on Arch (Plasma with Wayland), the window doesn't respond to keyboard or mouse input when I can get the game to appear. May be related to #700. Half-Life 2 works with Gamescope in a window, but in fullscreen (-f) it has the invisible cursor issue even with -e.

This issue no longer occurs for me, at least with Plasma (X11) or Wayland on Arch.

I am currently having this issue, on Garuda Linux using KDE Wayland. Adding -e doesn't seem to help. I'm trying to use gamescope with Mini Motorways, and can't get past the main menu due to not being able to click on the buttons. Mouse and keyboard still works. Strangely, if i select a button with the arrow keys and then left click, the button deselects, meaning it does register the left click somewhat but I still can't actually click on anything.

Wanted to add that this issue is still ongoing, trying to run Overwatch 2 at 1080p on a 4k monitor but the mouse curson bug still persist after adding -e

I wanted to add to this just in case anyone comes in the future. I am running a dual monitor set-up and was running into this issue for most FPS games. The following command solved my issue of the mouse settings locked:

--force-grab-cursor

Hope this helps!
