Update testing guide to include cron tests & staged tests

This would include changes from #1162, #1333, #1350, and maybe ∼1–2 other PRs. Might need to update some names of tests too. I can probably take care of this in the next small but finite number of weeks, but it's totally fine if anyone else would like to handle this instead.
