When used in strict mode, any call throws the following error:

Uncaught (in promise) ReferenceError: assignment to undeclared variable response
    getJSON getter.js:21
    rootEndpoint[0] index.js:61
    test utils.ts:13
    <anonymous> main.tsx:15
