[Feature Request] Using Bower instead of submodules

I use Grunt, Bower, and Yeoman to automate a lot of setup processes, and the current use of git submodules to reference the platform files makes it trickier to set up - it would be extremely nice if Bower was used instead for to retrieve dependencies.

What are the advantages of bower over git submodules?
Using submodules you can target a specific commit, and do not rely on a package manager.
