Hello everyone,
I'm new here and I hope I'm doing correctly... if not, I apologize.
I'm looking for an update (but didn't found it) regarding this topic... [#17039] and its relatives [#10052], [#10455] and [#11660], according to the contributors @tm-newslang, @khouloudbelguith and @hibatallahAouadni (thank you for your posts, it helped me a lot).
In our days, some users updated to Prestashop 8.0.x (that's were I've started).
It seems to me that the languages xml files in ' /localization/CLDR/core/common/main ' are a bit mixed up (for some), it contains languages that are not used in the territory and I don't get how the xml files are working together (main languages : de, en, fr, it -> specific languages : de_CH, en_CH, fr_CH, it_CH... as like fr_CA or fr_BE).
As @tm-newslang reported in [#17039], I can change the decimal on the main language file (fr.xml) and it works, but on the specific language (fr_CH.xml), it doesn't change a thing.
First, I have to report that xml files contains not escaped illegal caracters as like ampersands '&'.
After having modified the (fr.xml) file, I encountered several parsing errors on the FO.
I fixed the issue on my local, but it may be good to apply a patch on the files in the server.
I'm not sure about it, but it may concerns all xml files containing an ampersand as a textarea (language, territory, currency, etc.) once modified and saved.
Second, the problem is that the approach ' format according language ' is a mistake.
It should better be the country, than the language.
If we consider our keyboards QWERTY, AZERTY and QWERTZ, it doesn't belongs to the language... but the country.
The same the currencies, and the same the numbers format (decimal, group).
If I change the format on the main language, I might be correct with the specific language but no more with the main one.
And it causes trouble when you have to deal with both of your customers (speaking the same language, but living in different countries, using different currencies and different format numbers).
And for many reasons, you may prefer to use another format than 'the one' chosen for your country or language.
Maybe your accountant, the reporting tools or whatever reasons make it more convenient to prefer another one.
Therefore, I suggest a more flexible way to edit the symbols, currencies and format numbers.
It was a very good start with the pop-in... but there are 4 patterns only, as mentioned in the case [#22368], tracked by [#17564], opened by @juraj1000 and thanks to the contributors @florine2623 and @MatShir.
Would you please tell me from where this pop-in is linked and how may I add/edit a specific format please ?
I'm aware that format numbers (decimal and group) shown in the pop-in are those from the main language, but I don't get where the 4 patterns used in the pop-in are stored ('Choose format').
Thank you in advance for your help and feedback.
