Nimbus doesnt link to PNID

Everything's gone smoothly up until trying to connect my pretendo network ID through the nintendo network ID menu. This is also happening to my SO. it simply gives us an error of 022-5432 "An error has occured. Please try again later." It appears to be an "nonexistant account" error, but in the guides I was using, it was saying this should work fine if I put in my pretendo information. The 2ds can even find it- it's just specifically linking the ID to the system itself that doesn't seem to work. I can't find anything about this issue anywhere else either. Is there a way to fix this?

edit: I'm an idiot sorry. I never set up a nintendo network ID for my actual nintendo account. apparently that fixed my issue perfectly.
