trying to add new work from Hathi yields rysnc error

Attempted to add uc1.c006043204, @rlskoeser investigated and found there was an rsync protocol error

Error from the log file on the server:

ok, this is strange — I tested rsync on this pid on our current production server and I get this protocol error; running the same command on the new test server works just fine. rsync version reports the same on both servers... (rsync version 3.1.2 protocol version 31)

I tested using our manage command and this pid: python manage.py hathi_rsync uc1.c006043204
