- The player begins at the entrance of the village
- Talking to the skeleton, Calcaneus—who is in the closest house to the entrance—gives them the first quest, to meet and talk to the rest of the villagers
- While talking, one of them (Wisp, the ghost) mentions a bridge being out
- When completing the first quest, the player mentions the broken bridge
- Calcaneus offers them the second quest, to recover a hammer from the cave and use it to repair the bridge
- The player completes two puzzles on their way through the cave and finds the hammer in a chest
- Midway through the cave, they see a path they currently cannot access
- With the hammer (which takes the form of a quest flag), they go to the bridge east of town and interact with it to repair it
- The player checks back in with Calcaneus, which completes the quest. Afterward, they recommend talking with Wisp to find out what they wanted
- Wisp gives them the third quest, to collect a plant from the forest
- They complete another two puzzles on their way through the forest and see two paths they cannot yet access
- They find the plant (once again, in a chest) and deliver it to Wisp
- While completing the quest for Wisp, Silq (the spider) calls for them
- Silq then gives them the fourth quest, to collect soil from the cave to make pigment
- In the cave, the previously inaccessible path is open, and leads them to another chest
- On completing the fourth quest, Luca comes to find them
- Luca offers the fifth quest, which sends them on a vague search through the forest
- Once again taking the formerly inaccessible path, they complete another puzzle and reach a chest, which is empty
- Rather than reporting back to Luca, the player talks to Calcaneus
- Talking with Calcaneus offers them the sixth and final main quest, to go to the castle southwest of town and break the curse
- This also opens three sidequest lines, one for each of the other NPCs
- The player completes three final puzzles as they make their way through the castle
- Reaching the end of the castle and interacting with a book finishes the game, with a different ending depending on how many of the NPCs’ sidequest lines they completed
