Support for RX7800xt

Hello everyone,
I am not very familiar with the forum so I apologise in advance.
Regarding support for RDNA3 both on windows & linux, do we have an idea when they will support the 7800xt?
Also considering it is not officially supported, does anyone have experience with it? is it too crashy?

I spent whole day today trying to run it via both my system ROCm and via Docker and all I got is a bunch of segfaults

Not a single successful run so far. I had better succes with internal Ryzen 7900X GPU than my RX 7800 XT

@OEvgeny - what OS are you running and did you install ROCm via your package manager ?

I got it working just today. Turns out I used old kernel 6.1.28. I upgraded to 6.6.7 and all is working great now. I had to use HSA_OVERRIDE_GFX_VERSION=11.0.0 in order to get my 7800xt working.

I'm using NixOS with built-in ROCm 5.7.1. I also tried every rocm/pytorch docker image available with the older kernel and nothing worked. With the newer kernel I got docker images to also work pretty well

@ChuloIva I'd look into specific software guides you're trying to run as I had luck with StableDiffusion, but not with LLMs at this point. You could try anything suitable for 7800XT as it is also not officially supported by ROCm, but can prented 7900XT if running with HSA_OVERRIDE_GFX_VERSION=11.0.0 environment variable.

I'm assuming 7700XT has the same internal arch as 7800XT and 7900XT

Any verdict for 7900 XTX? Is it good and usable for deep learning? I'm planning to work on LLMs and diffusion models. Is AMD 7900 xtx an option?

Allegedly, the 7900 XTX and 7900 XT are supported in ROCm 6.0.2 : https://rocm.docs.amd.com/projects/install-on-linux/en/latest/reference/system-requirements.html#supported-gpus - I suspect you'd be good to go @veb-101

Is there a way to help integrating rocm on 7800 xt? maybe also for ubuntu 24.04 ?
