All-thread Desk

Below are instructions for creating a desk from plywood that is suspended by all-thread rods. The design goals of this desk were as follows:

  1. Customizable - the desk should be customizable to fit different needs
  2. Modular - the desk should be modular to support upgrading over time
  3. Flat-packable - the desk should be able to break down into a small footprint for moving
  4. Large - the desk should be able to scale up to support a lot of equipment on top

Bill of Materials

Below is the Bill of Materials for building this desk.

  1. 1ea. - 8' x 4' - 3/4" Hardwood Plywood
  2. 6ea. - 3' - 5/8"-11 Medium-Strength Steel All-thread Rods (Grade B7) (your choice of coating)
  3. 2ea. - 6' - 5/8"-11 Medium-Strength Steel All-thread Rods (Grade B7) (your choice of coating)
  4. 60ea. - 5/8"-11 Nuts (Zinc Plated)
  5. 44ea. - 5/8" Wide Washers (Zinc Plated)
  6. 36ea. - 1/2" Copper Crimp Rings
  7. 4ea. - 1/2" Copper Coupling
  8. 1ea. - 6' - 2" x 4" Lumber
  9. 1qt. - Wood Stain (your choice of finish)
  10. 8oz. - Wood Glue
  11. 8ea. - 1" Rubber Leg Tips
