ray-script

A Programming Language that Transpiles to JavaScript. Focuses on Readability, Brevity (small files), Code Base Management, and Eliminating Bad Programming Practices. Has amazing features that we've all needed very much! Focuses on writing code for NodeJS.

Installation & Usage

To Install use:

npm i -g ray-script

To check version use:

ray-script -v

To compine RayScript code to JavaScript code use:

ray-script -f fileName.rs

This will compile the RayScript file fileName.rs to a JavaScript file fileName.js.

RayScript Syntax

Const Declarations

To make a const declaration use all capital alphabets and hypens:

RayScript:

HELLO-WORLD = "hello world";

log.o(HELLO-WORLD);

Compiles to the following JavaScript:

const helloWorld = "hello world";

console.log(helloWorld);

RayScript Comments

Make a comment similar to a JavaScript comment!

Inline JavaScript Code

We can also write inline JavaScript Code, but it is not recommanded right now. JavaScript code blocks will be fully supported in a later version!

RayScript Methods

RayScript provides the following methods:

  1. String.prototype.removeSpaces(): To remove spaces from the string. Returns the new string.
  2. String.prototype.prepend(arg): To add the given arg to the start of the string. Returnes the new string.
  3. String.prototype.append(arg): To add the given arg to the end of the sting. Returns the new string.
  4. String.prototype.recursivelyReplace(callback): To recursively alter multiple parts of the string. Returns the new string. For example:-
const fruits = "apple mango banana pineapple strawberry";
const newLine = line.recurcivelyReplace((line) => {
      for (let word of line.split(' ')) {
	line = line.replace(word, "cherry");
      }
      return line;
    });
console.log(newLine); // output: "cherry cherry cherry cherry cherry"

Logging

To log stuff to the console use the following RayScript Code:

log.o("log stuff here");

This conpiles to the following JavaScript Code:

console.log("log stuff here");

Project Status (Under-development)

  1. Supports Const declarations.
  2. Supports Commpent Only Lines.
  3. Supports JavaScript Code.
  4. Supports RayScript Methods.
  5. Supports log.o.
