This is a fairly low priority suggestion.I've noticed the GigaDish1 directory alone is over 24 MB which accounts for is nearly 85% of the entire RemoteTech download. If this is just the way it needs to be (due to the model animation, etc) then that's fine, but I'm just curious if the size could be reduced without totally redoing the entire model/animation.

It was JDP's first modeling project. It was scheduled to be replaced by someone else's work, but they never finished it.

If anyone wants to create a new version of it more in line with the dishes Kommit made, feel free to :).

Size on disk doesn't equate to size ingame; that's because on disk the textures are stored as MBM (uncompressed) whereas ingame they'll all get converted to DXT anyway. If what you care about is slimming the download, use the mbm2png converter to convert all the MBMs to PNGs and then delete the MBMs (you don't have to change the mu at all, it'll recognize).
However, even at 1:6 (or 1:4 if there are alpha channels) that's a lot of texture for the model; you could probably get away with also lowering the resolution of some of the textures.
