Description:

I want to be able to mute notifications for a given channel or a private group or even a thread for a time period.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. I'm member of a channel in my company.
  2. People start to discuss a topic I'm not interested in right now.
  3. Notifications from that discussion are spamming my notification system so that I miss other important Rocket.Chat notifications.

Expected behavior:

  1. I want to be able to select a mute period on channel/group/thread-basis with a few pre-defined (or self-defined) values. The Android Signal app offers 1h, 2hrs, 1d, 7d, 1y, for example.
  2. Being able to mute the notifications related to the discussion I don't want to follow, I am now able to be notified when my boss needs something urgently in a different channel/group/thread.

Actual behavior:

Notifications from that are spamming my notification system so that I miss important (other) notifications.

Server Setup Information:

  • Version of Rocket.Chat Server: I'm not an admin so I can't look it up as described.
  • Operating System: No idea.
  • Deployment Method: No idea.
  • Number of Running Instances: No idea.
  • DB Replicaset Oplog: No idea.
  • NodeJS Version: No idea.
  • MongoDB Version: No idea.

Client Setup Information

  • Desktop App or Browser Version: Could not find this information within my desktop client and rocketchat-desktop --help is not implemented
  • Operating System: Ubuntu GNU/Linux

Ad "channel/group/thread-basis": the more fine-grained, the better. ;-)

It would be nice to have the option of muting notifications on the context menu of the desktop app.

Du I understand this correctly? Whenever there is a valid feature-request that can not be implemented within four months, it gets removed?
I don't get the rationale behind this decision.
