Don't Clear Recently Filtered Messages with the Clear Button

I use the clear button a lot to clear the messages I've read so it's easier to see new messages, but sometimes I hit the clear button just after a new message is added before I've had time to read it. It would be nice it there was something like a 0.5 second window where new messages aren't removed by the clear button.
