The possibility to separate the button and the picking logic.

I would be really nice if it was possible to start picking from any code (custom editor window).
My usecase would be to make connectrions between nodes, where the ref needs to be put into each node respectivly. So i would make a button that is active when the user has selected a GO with a node in it. Than when they click the button in the window they can choose the node to link to. After that the link would be added to both sides.

I could use the annotation but that still means the user has to add a new element to the list.
