This is an idea that Nikos (of gnutls and OpenConnect fame) gave me. With OpenConnect they apparently keep some of their docs in git in markdown so that this:
It would be nice to keep our docs in git as well. In general we don't do a great job at keeping the docs up-to-date and I guess being able to git grep them would help.
Also, this might help with the planned increased presence on github.
