Founded by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in 2007, it has since become one of the most popular and lucrative cricket leagues globally. The league features franchise teams representing various cities in India and has attracted top cricket players worldwide. Typically held annually during the Indian summer, from March to May, the IPL enjoys a significant following both in India and internationally.

The dataset comprises five primary categories:
- Teams: Details of participating teams
- Players: Information on players affiliated with each team, including demographic data
- Matches: Key summaries of individual matches and their outcomes
- Player_Match: Roster of players for each match along with their performance summaries
- Ball_by_Ball: Granular data at the ball level
