I actually raised a feature idea but maybe a discussion is good to.
So in our environment we have a very strict control on how to talk to the outside world, which means everything have to go thru our dedicated repository server. I have setup this to hold everything that security onion needs for installation and updates.
This is how we used SO1 but with SO2 the scripts are hardcoded to change the apt repositories on install and updates to look at the official repos.
As of now for every release I create a small hack for soup and the scripts to just remove everything that touches files I have put there.
