Shonan Code Summit (ShoCode) Code of Conduct

Introduction

The Shonan Code Summit (ShoCode) is a community-driven event that aims to bring together engineers, developers, and other technology enthusiasts to exchange ideas, knowledge, and experiences. As part of our commitment to fostering a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment for all participants, we have adopted this Code of Conduct.

This Code of Conduct applies to all ShoCode-related activities, including but not limited to the event itself, online discussions, social media interactions, and other community-driven activities. By participating in any of these activities, you agree to abide by this Code of Conduct and uphold its principles.

Our Values

We believe that diversity, inclusivity, and mutual respect are essential to creating a vibrant, productive, and welcoming community. Our community welcomes people of all ages, races, ethnicities, nationalities, religions, genders, sexual orientations, abilities, and backgrounds. We value openness, curiosity, and collaboration, and we strive to maintain an environment where everyone feels comfortable sharing their thoughts, ideas, and feedback.

Expected Behavior

All ShoCode participants are expected to behave in a professional, courteous, and respectful manner towards each other, regardless of their backgrounds or viewpoints. Specifically, we expect participants to:

  • Refrain from using any discriminatory, offensive, or harassing language or behavior, including but not limited to slurs, insults, threats, or violence.
  • Respect the boundaries, privacy, and personal space of others, and refrain from touching or engaging with others without their explicit consent.
  • Be mindful of the impact of their words and actions on others, and avoid making assumptions or generalizations about individuals or groups.
  • Listen actively and empathetically to others, and avoid interrupting or talking over others.
  • Take responsibility for their own behavior and apologize if they cause harm or offense to others.
  • Report any incidents of harassment or discrimination to the event organizers or moderators immediately.

Unacceptable Behavior

The following behaviors are considered unacceptable and will not be tolerated at any ShoCode-related activities:

  • Discriminatory language or behavior based on age, race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, gender, sexual orientation, ability, or any other characteristic protected by law or social norms.
  • Offensive language or behavior, including but not limited to slurs, insults, threats, or violence, directed at any participant or group.
  • Harassment or bullying, including but not limited to unwanted physical contact, stalking, intimidation, or coercion.
  • Disruptive or disrespectful behavior that interferes with the ability of others to participate in or enjoy the event, such as loud or disruptive conduct, or disregard for the event rules or guidelines.

Consequences of Unacceptable Behavior

Participants who engage in any unacceptable behavior may be asked to leave the event or other community-related activities immediately and without warning. Additionally, the event organizers or moderators may take other actions as deemed appropriate, including but not limited to warning the individual, restricting their participation in future activities, or reporting the behavior to appropriate authorities.

Reporting and Enforcement

If you experience or witness any behavior that violates this Code of Conduct, or if you have any questions or concerns about the conduct of another participant, please report it to the event organizers or moderators immediately. We take all reports of misconduct seriously and will investigate them promptly and confidentially.

Conclusion

The Shonan Code Summit (ShoCode) is committed to creating a diverse, inclusive, and respectful community for all participants. We value the contributions of all members of our community and appreciate your support in upholding this Code of Conduct.
