Hey Shopifolks, just wanted to say that it would be nice to have GenericFile Metafield reference. It is available in Admin API (https://shopify.dev/api/admin-graphql/unstable/unions/MetafieldReference), but not in Storefront API (https://shopify.dev/api/storefront/unstable/unions/MetafieldReference).
Use case: we are offering free downloads to some products.
