See issue #138 - indicates there are exporting issues when some faces are hidden. It'd be good if STL exporter could deal with this in a smarter way.

Well now, since it appears some of my issues are helping you developer-types streamline your creations, then I've got another conundrum for you.

I've downloaded netfabb and was given basic instruction on identifying geometry problems--and running fix routine. Via trial and error, we've found that trying to export to .stl a component that is not unique does not work well--I suppose because by default, select picks all the linked components--not just one. Anyway, the odd thing is that after creating two legitimate hollow solids that are linked--and mirrored, then making each of them unique, only one of the components will export cleanly to STL.

This has been a repeatable experiment on several linked, mirrored, then uniqued components in my pavilion model.

Here is the link to a folder that has SU model with segments of rafter tails (Left and Right outside segment A) containing the unique compenents laid horizontally on the ground (on their backsides for printing) and their "mother" components from which they were previously copied. No geometry has been altered from original in any of the components. (All pieces checked carefully for hidden and reverse faces I might add)

Within this folder are the two stl files I've created for left rafter segment and right rafter segment. The left one does not export cleanly, nor can Netfabb fix the errors. The right side segment exports cleanly with no errors--and they are EXACT mirror copies of each other!

Thoughts?

This mirroring is a separate issue.

Re: Visibility. How does this fit in with #114 ?
