Online/Offline channel or Thing status #10
Comments
I’m pretty sure it would not be accepted to be merged to the main openhab project if it was a channel. The standard way is to use the thing status as all other bindings and developer guidelines have gone that way from memory. |
It is looking pretty certain that this binding will need to be fully rewritten to be HTTP based before it is merged |
closing as this now should go on and offline as it is now http API based. |

Hello @Skinah ,
Following my post in https://community.openhab.org/t/wled-a-binding-for-controlling-led-strips-and-strings-from-an-opensource-esp8266-project/87286/75
When I disconnect my Wled board the offline status is correctly published to the Mqtt broker in the status topic, however the Thing in Openhab stays online.
Could there be a channel added where the status topic from wled is mirrored as a LWT topic? Or put the Wled String Thing Offline?
If you need someone to do a quick test run with any update please let me know.
Thank you for your work.
