Hello @Skinah ,

Following my post in https://community.openhab.org/t/wled-a-binding-for-controlling-led-strips-and-strings-from-an-opensource-esp8266-project/87286/75

When I disconnect my Wled board the offline status is correctly published to the Mqtt broker in the status topic, however the Thing in Openhab stays online.

Could there be a channel added where the status topic from wled is mirrored as a LWT topic? Or put the Wled String Thing Offline?

If you need someone to do a quick test run with any update please let me know.

Thank you for your work.

I’m pretty sure it would not be accepted to be merged to the main openhab project if it was a channel. The standard way is to use the thing status as all other bindings and developer guidelines have gone that way from memory.

It is looking pretty certain that this binding will need to be fully rewritten to be HTTP based before it is merged
