Push Notifications

Are there any plans to support push notifications instead of polling?
For example, would it be likely to have an API in the future where we can specify a local call back URL so events are pushed to that location as they happen. That way no polling would be required, but the notifications would be instantaneous, and then real use could be made of contact and motion sensors, etc.

For the processing of events, it would have been interesting to be able to subscribe to a websocket.
