0.5.5 Wayland Stability

This release fixes the problem people have been facing when trying to launch pineflash on wayland. If you don't care about the details then just update to the latest version and your problem should go away.

For those of you interested in why it was happening it seemed to be a problem with the underlying code of the graphical toolkit I use (egui) so I had to do some refactoring due to some breaking changes in the library. Here's to hoping I haven't broken anything after doing that since I am currently away from any pinecils but as far as my testing goes it should be fine.

Due to updating to the new version of egui I am having to drop rhel 9 support for now. I have been running into issues compiling on it so if you do run rhel 9 I would recommend trying the appimage.

Now that the pinecil v2 can have custom cover art thanks to ironons version 2.22 you can now choose image files in pineflash with the custom file selector.

Also the appimage is now stable and a few bugs should have been fixed.

The appimage seems to be stable now so I'm looking for people to test it!

Feel free to try it out and if you have any problems with it open up an issue.

Incase you don't know how to run an appimage the process is simple

Download it.

Set it executable (chmod +x ./pineflash*.appimage) or with your file manager.

Run it!

The only dependency is fuse2 and you should have that already.

Oh yeah, the deb release should be fixed to.

Tldr: Stuff should work more reliably

The Same as 0.4.5 but with pinecil v1 support fixed (i accidentally broke it)

If you are on windows flashing a pinecil v1 will crash the program, please use version 0.4.3 if you have windows and a pinecil v1

Mostly just fixing and tidying stuff up. Some QOL improvements and all round better.

All Platforms:

  • Log improvements.
  • Auto detects if pinecil is connected/disconnected.
  • Displays serial COM port used.
  • Dark or light mode option.
  • Fixing v1 support

Windows:

  • Stopped terminal from showing when flashing, now in line with macos and linux in this behaviour.
