Time to set the version to 1.0

I think that the 0.5 versioning is a bit to conservative. Should we go for 1.0 with the current bits?

I would prefer to do it after the remaining bugs are fixed: #31, #42, #64, #65, #72, #76, #77

And maybe even this enhancement, because it can improve performance: #78

I guess fixing that is 2 days of work, doable in one batch.
