I just updated to 1.1.0. I see in the description of what's new "New feature: app sharing". What is app sharing? Does this have anything to do with sharing data with other nations' backends?

No this has nothing to do with sharing data with other nations backends.
With version 1.1.0 a new feature was added to the app which lets people share the download link to the app.

Too bad. Really unfortunate that Switzerland is excluded from the EU server that allow nations of the EU to exchange encounters.
