JupyterLab 3 has been released and we should upgrade to it, but as of Jan 2021, the git and nbdime plugins still need to be updated.

$ jupyter labextension list

JupyterLab v3.0.1
Other labextensions (built into JupyterLab)

        @jupyterlab/git v0.23.3 enabled  X
        @jupyterlab/toc v5.0.0 enabled OK

        jupyterlab-topbar-extension v0.6.0 enabled OK
        nbdime-jupyterlab v2.0.1 enabled  X

   The following extension are outdated:
        @jupyterlab/git
        nbdime-jupyterlab
