In order to update feeds (See Installation 5.), you could directly write to

/usr/syno/etc/scheduled_tasks
so the task will be listed in DSM > Control Panel >Task Scheduler.

Pro :

  • The user will be able to easily set update frequency where configuring a CRON job would be more difficult.

Cons :

  • Only compatible with DSM 4.2 and higher.
  • It is not possible for now to set the frequency below 1 hour in DSM. Synology should fix this problem as many users would probably set lower frequencies (in minutes).

That's good to know but I'm not sure this kind of settings belong at the hand of the end user.
Frequent updates with the correct process niceness should content most users.

I wonder what are the pro/cons for using a SQLite db or a MySQL one.
I'll use the MySQL for now.

I know selfoss is not multi user… so is there a way to install multiple instances on a single synology?

You can install more Selfoss manually in different directories.

Yes, no problems with it here.

sorry if this seems a simple question, it is my first use of spksrc:
In order to test this package during its private beta phase, I need to build it with spksrc and install it manually?
then, once the package will be public, will auto-upgrade from online repo work as intended even if I manually installed it?
and another question: since this is a pure web application, there is no specific target, the build is done as noarch, is it correct?
