For fabric, the current approach makes sense to keep a folder of generated files, because "deploy" command will generate cc package from the files. Is this issue for corda only?

This feature will be to allow the export of the smart contract from the Dovetail Studio UI itself. Wrapping the source code in a zip file seems like the most sensible thing to do.

We will have both options source code & zip available for users using the cli straight away and not relying on the UI.
