The problem is that android.lintOptions.xmlOutput turns off the automagic lint-results.xml, lint-results-release.xml, lint-results-debug.xml outputs for lint, lintRelease and lintDebug tasks. Mind also lintVitalRelease which also writes to lint-results-release.xml by default.
