I wanted to open an issue for that a while ago and never got to it
you can gate some of MI behind certain tiers of rockets, for example you need ostrum or how its called for digital circuits, just on top maybe, you will still need stainless for them, and then you can also get it from stainless steel drills
if you want to be really creative you could also do ore extractions like for platinum or any ore you need sulfuric acid for, but then you will need to add your own fluids with kubejs

That was basically the idea on how to make you need to space travel to progress in the modpack.
