Checklist

  • I am able to reproduce the bug with the latest version.
  • I made sure that there are no existing issues - open or closed - which I could contribute my information to.
  • I have read the FAQ and my problem isn't listed.
  • I have taken the time to fill in all the required details. I understand that the bug report will be dismissed otherwise.
  • This issue contains only one bug.
  • I have read and understood the contribution guidelines.

Affected version

0.24.0

Steps to reproduce the bug

  1. Connect to a bluetooth audio device.
  2. Start playing a YouTube video. (I was using mobile data, not wifi)
3a. Part way through playback, turn off the bluetooth audio device, video will pause.
3b. May also have to lock the screen to produce bug.

Expected behavior

When disconnecting from a bluetooth audio device, playback pauses. I should be able to touch the 'play' button to resume playback where I left off, or while the screen is on and NewPipe is active, reconnect a bluetooth audio device and playback will resume automatically.

Actual behavior

Frequently (but not always), the video will not resume when I touch the 'play' button. If this happens, reconnecting to a bluetooth audio device will trigger the seekbar to skip to the end of the video and the 'play' button is replaced by the 'replay' button, but still won't play. I have to close video window (Android Back nav button/gesture) and open the video again to get it to start playing. This hassle is further exacerbated when the video I was watching was a 'suggestion' from a previous video, since I can't open the video directly from the previous screen.

I can't reproduce this bug, can you give a screen recording of it happening?

I'm able to reproduce this reliably when I turn off my car while connected via BT, but not with other BT headsets. If I try to reconnect afterwards, I can't continue playback from where I left off. Instead, I have to close the background player, reopen it, and scrub to whenever I left off.

In this case, I turned the car off when the background player reaches ~7s.
