We can build a marketplace app linking pro bono and legal aid lawyers with filers of in forma pauperis and pro se civil complaints in the state and federal courts of all 50 states.

Roles this project would benefit from:

  • UX/UI Designer to make sure the platform has a simple and easy interface
  • Mobile app developer
  • Legal aid subject matter expert
  • Project Manager to coordinate tasks and create presentation
  • Researcher who will find out what the current tech is

Hi - My background is as a lawyer, I've been involved with bar associations where this kind of matchmaking occurs - but inefficiently

At the American Bar Association, there is a Standing committee on Legal Aid, and, I believe they would have access to a database of lawyers nationwide who have expressed an interest in legal aid service; in addition, there is a Standing Committee on Pro Bono lawyers - they would have access as well to lawyers who want to help out as volunteers to increase access to justice

We built an app (iOS only) for linking pro bono attorneys and cases, however, it is on for the state of Arkansas and it has fallen way behind in updates. Would love to share what we did if it would help. It is called iProBono. See ttps://tech4justice.slack.com/x-27902639766-100958915557/invite/MTAwMTk2OTUyOTc3LTE0NzgzNzMxMTgtZTAwYTc2NzgxZg

For those interested, our veterans hackathon this coming March will include a similar idea, see #19

There's something like this for veterans called vetsprobono.org which is part of probono.net. Not sure how successful it is.
