With effects spawning just release, we realized post release that the preset json for the rain geonode effect has an issue that makes it fall like snow.

To manually fix after spawning:

  • Select the geonode object
  • Go into the modifiers tab of the properties window
  • Change the "chaos" setting to 0, and the "time" to something more like 1.

Additionally, if you spawn a geonode effect without there being a camera object, it can spawn in oddly. It's made to work with a camera being active.

Made the improvement, although I still feel like the rain is not as "tall" as it should be compared to in game.
