I'm really pleased to hear you like the extension! Thank you for the kind words. In principle, updating this extension to support .org files is really simple, however I don't currently have access to releasing a new version and it will take a while for me before I can get to it. In the meanwhile, you might want to take a look at running VS Code extensions from source: https://vscode-docs.readthedocs.io/en/stable/extensions/install-extension/. Then you could install from the GitHub source code and update/clone lines 18 and 19 to register a provider for the Org mode files. Hope this is helpful. I'll keep this open so that I know to get to it when I'm looking at my VS Code extensions in the future.
