This probably isn't news for anyone playing for the last days, you are playing in the match normally then the latency of all players suddenly starts to raise to 999, making it impossible to continue.
This mostly happens in official servers, probably because the attackers knows the address, and I've noticed that every time it happens, the console echoes a similar message like
CSoundPatch::Update: Removing CSoundPatch (music/zombiechoir/ZombieChoir_07_l4d1.wav) with NULL EHandle
or any other audio file, which is probably related to whatever exploit they're using this time.

This has been known for a while now how it can be solved, it's just that Valve has taken a long time to implement SDR and this is causing the online player base to decrease. Just in a couple of months I went from 30k players to now it decreased to 15k average. In the same link is the solution if you are the owner of a server.
