lets write up a short blog post featuring independent developer Jacob Vlijm who has extended his Unity applets to work with Ubuntu Budgie

this one when run via the menu adds a cool looking workspace indicator to the AppIndicator

This next one should in theory work with all budgie-desktop users (on any distro)

When run and enabled via the menu it remember what wallpaper you changed on each workspace. Thus when you switch to the workspace, the wallpaper changes after a second or two to that wallpaper
