I'm thinking that maybe something similar to 4chan (greentext via >) would be an ideal way of getting this done. Offloads a bit of the styling and functionality from me to the user and allows them some freedom in how they wanna quote.

here's some regex that checks when a link has a > on a new line. I think the issue will be adding a style to just those specific lines that are quoted.
